Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000
Purchase price - 70.00$. Category - top level. 30 June 2008

Again I get my hands on a ex top webcamera from Logitech. QuickCam Pro 3000 was the best this company was offering about 5 years ago. Since than we have seen Pro 4000, Pro 5000 and Pro 9000 most recently. As it become almost a tradition for Logitech, the camera has a good quality integrated microphone.
The mounting mechanism of course was not designed for widely used today LCD monitors, so only flat surfaces a good for it. The camera can be rotated around for 360 degrees and about 35 degrees up and down, and nothing at all on any side. Manual focus is something not so common anymore, especially in this price range, but I suppose for a camera made 5 years ago it sounds normal. Image quality is pretty good, very little noise in any condition, even in low light, where the camera acted exceptionally good. But the colors are a little to faded. Overall the image quality looks very stable, but the best results are obtained under fluorescent light. Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 has a 330k or VGA (640x480) sensor, you can make still images at 640x480 with no interpolation, good to see no rush for megapixels back then. The lens are medium, about 3mm in diameter, located behind a small protective glass. On top of the webcam it's located the snapshot button and in front the microphone. The activity led is nice and small, just the way it must be. Overall the camera is good, but now there are better options for less money, like Philips SPC900NC for example.

Sample images:

Pros:
* Snapshot button
* Integrated microphone
* Long 3m cable

Cons:
* Manual focus
* Does not rotate on sides
* Poor mounting system
* To thick cable
* Colors a little faded

Verdict: It was a nice camera 5 years ago, but it's not anymore, just a middle level camera at the moment, not something to by now.
